Is there funding strictly campaign contributions, or do they get federal money?

The Parties get funded by lobbyists. In exchange, they have to cater to their agenda (Military, Oil, Church, to name some).
Every industry has lobbyist reps in Washington. The people do not have a lobby, that's why the Government is not for the people, but a puppet for CEO's of the USA industries.

Parties do not get any money from the government for any purpose whatsoever.

Candidates can get campaign money from the government.

No I don't believe so. Candidates get money as long as they reach a threshold of voters! Few candidates other than Republican or Democrat have ever gotten the money!
