Mine did the same thing until I found out pcs needed to be tuned up. I figured if Office Max was only charging $9.95 it had to be on a software. Then I found Tune Up Utilities. They have a free 30 day trial with just your name and e-mail address. The very first time after I downloaded and ran it my pc was almost like new. It made a huge difference. You'd be surprised how easily the pc programs get messed up and everything with them is just a click. Plus you can retrieve it if tossed by accident and it even has a program shredder. I love it.

DJP and angel do not know what they are talking about. Macs DO get viruses. They are fine machines, but must be used as they were intended, they're not magic.
You probably have several issues going on. First, remove all P2P software, your ramm and processor is being used as a server. Second, remove any more than ONE antivirus. DO NOT use the free security that you get from your ISP. Third, remove the red flag software from your computer. you know, weatherbug, banzai buddy, smiley central, AOell, Incredimail, etc. Fouth, run an antivirus scan in safe mode, then at least two antispyware scans in safe mode using different software. Adaware, spybot, etc. Fifth, uninstall all the browser helper objects in IE. Go to tools, manage add ons and disable them. Only use ONE extra toolbar. Google or yahoo each is good, but both are terrible. Lastly, Google search engine is the greatest thing, but google desktop is a sure way to slow your computer. If you are an advanced user, it may be worthwhile, but for most users, it is a huge anchor. I'd also add more ramm if I were you

ok could be a number of things, i'm sure this happens to all kinds of different OS's not just windows. i've heard people have problems with macs before and viruses. what are your system specs? anyway get www.free-av.com haven't had any problems at all in years. winxp. you might have a lot of processes in the background or icons on the lower right hand of the screen running that aren't neccesary or you might need an update. can't tell untill you give specs of pc and what programs are currently running. only one antivirus program should be running always. www.free-av.com is a very good program i think.

My computer does this sometimes too. Normally about once a month. I remedy it by doing a full system reset. Restore the factory settings. It always brings the system back to a fresh and functional speed. Bit annoying tho because you have to reinstall all ur programs etc. I think the best long term cure is a RAM upgrade? Unless ur RAM is already quite big?

Sounds like your PC is very badly infested with either virus or adwares. Doing a scan at this moment may not help much as some virus/adwares "sit" right inside the registry and will be hard to clear if you not versed on computer thinggies.
Solution is to : Reformat your hdd and reinstall Windows OS
Good luck!!

THIS CAN HAPPEN WITH A SLOW CONNECTION.I am on with telefonica, the connection can be very slow at times. It could also be due to you downloading too much for your pc to handle reasonably well.A good strong powerful motherboard, powerful drivers, etc etc are needed, you can uprate drivers etc,but you need to replace other items that are not up to it.Have you tried uninstalling the programs you do not use, delete all cookies(some of which you need).Start from there. If you use adaware, make sure you only get it from LAVASOFT.COM,AS THERE IS A BOGUS SITE THAT WILL CRAM YOU WITH SPAM.

I can only suggest getting a new PC if it's old or getting more RAM. RAM is basiclly memory for your PC. The more RAM you have, the faster the PC. There's also the processor to worry about.
If you have the time i suggest taking it to a shop to get it checked out first before you change anything.

system restore, set to a date before your problems started...
start>programmes>accesories>
system tools>system restore.
Note you will not lose any files and it can be reversed, only software you have downloaded since that time (removal of which may be the solution to the answer)

DJP was right, Mac's don't get viruses at all. What company did you buy your computer from? Each company has a technical support number to call in case of problems. That's what I do anyway.
