Just because a fabric is white does not mean bleach is safe for it. I use Gain detergent and a scoop of Oxi_Clean and wash in hot water also for problem stains I use Oxi-Clean spray and let it set a few hours to overnight before washing.

I do not recommend soaking clothes in bleach for more than 30 minutes. It will start breaking down the fabric. I place the socks in soapy water for 10 minutes to loosen the dirt. I scrub each sock where the dirt accumulates. I then place it in the washing machine with bleach and let soak for 15-30 minutes and then turn the washer on. Hot water is the best. My husband is a handyman and sometimes he need to do a little digging. The dirt stains around the ankle and on the ball of the foot. It is better to buy white socks with the grey bottom. They also have stain release socks. I also noticed that if you put extra fabric softener sheets in the dryer ( 3) that stains come out easier.

As a mom of 2 boys there socks get very dirty. Take all you whites in hot water with bleach and your regular detergent and run through a regular wash and they should come clean.

Yes - as stated here:
Fill the washing machine first with hot water, then add your bleach and laundry soap. Add your socks and let them soak about an hour. Then wash for the longest cycle possible.
That should do it! When all else fails, head to Walmart - they're like $5.97 for 6 pair!

Hot water, bleach and let them soak in the washer for a couple hours before washing. Or ask Mom.
