I will answer this for my daughter who was born the day after.....she does not like it because people usually get her one gift for both Christmas and her birthday. What we try to do is to have her birthday about a week or so earlier so that does not happen and so she can enjoy her birthday alot better.

It would to me,I know a few people like that and although it's about the tradition and being around your loved ones it's like to celebrations within around 2 days, and although that sounds nice some people might put the 2 together and say well you can have have 1 present or we'll visit you tomorrow as it's Christmas, but the 2 dates are actually mark separate occasions so they would rather have it spreaded out so it's more of an individually celebration.

My birthday of 28th December is pretty bad. People made an effort for my thirtieth birthday a couple of years back and all came out and had a good time, but other years they've been busy doing Christmas / New Year stuff on that night. One year, I tried having my birthday gathering on 17th December because I appreciated how busy people were during Christmas week - but people just said, "Oh no, we want to celebrate it on the day itself." - and guess what? People were STILL too busy!!!!

Selfishly, I see how it would matter because it could get overlooked and blend it with Christmas. I like to celebrate it separately. Life is not about me though, so I think it could be a good opportunity to serve others. Push comes to shove, I will buy myself a cupcake put a candle in it, treat myself to something nice and be happy! If my friends don't oh well besides they really don't owe me anything in the first place.

You know, a birthday is a birthday ... no matter what day it falls on.
And TRUE Friends accept you for WHO you are .. and care about you, not some day on a calendar or how many things you have.
