Okay, I hate to admit it, but I visit adult sites sometimes, and I download "bad" things to my computer. I've learned that doing this is very bad for my privacy, and my personal information might leak out if I visit adult sites. So I want to "clean out" my computer. For example, delete all search results, put my privacy back together again, and simply reduce it to the condition it was in when I first got it. In other words, "reset" the computer. Is that possible? If not, what is the closest I can get to "reseting" my computer? Please, PLEASE no mean or rude comments... I'm already very guilty. Please help me. Thank you.

Elfageek has good advice. Yes, you can run anti spyware and antivirus in safe mode, but that is no guarantee. The only safe thing to do is a complete OS reinstall. We have no comments about your curiosity, but safety is entirely a different issue. The internet is a dangerous place and adult sites prey on the weak and the naieve. It is unlikely that you will have too much data stolen from a "legitimate" adult site. But those free videos and free pictures are loaded with payload. They are more dangerous from the id theft, from the targeting of you for spam and the trojan horse issue.

Some computers will have reinstall cd's. Some computer s you have to hit a combo of keystokes to get a factory install. In many computers with vista, it is f8/repair/ agree to the license agreement/return to factory image. In XP, it is sometimes control f 11.

U must be quite young i guess!?!!

If you have not got the right protection, you can/could have already got a virus/spyware/adware on your pc.

No panic, there are solutions!
If you know how to reinstall windows, then you can download software to wipe out everything so that it can't be recovered again.

If you don't, then

If u use Internet Explorer, open it, go to Tools > Options > General > Temporary Internet files > Delete cookies > Delete files

Then

History > Clear History

Click ok

To help protect your pc better, download these free software:

1. Zonealarm firewall (it helps protects ur pc again viruses, hackers, etc)

2. Spyware terminator (It helps get rid of unwanted spyware, and personal data collecting software)

3. AVG grisoft antivirus (if you already have one then ignore this one)

Update your antivirus and spyware, do a full system scan.

Thats it.

Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disc cleanup, and check ALL that's listed. Then click ok. This will delete EVERYTHING youve done on the internet. Then go thru your files and delete all that "bad stuff" you've downloaded or saved. Then empty your recycle bin (trash can). then, I would, but you dont have to, do a Defrag (same place you found Disc cleanup.) that last part may take a while though. You DON'T have to do a system restore as mentioned below... cuz you just want to delete that stuff. Also, make sure you delete your private info.

Hope this helps.

I could give you many possible options, but there is only one SURE solution:

Back up all personal data from your PC ("Backup" means: copy to CD / DVD / external hard drive). Then, do a Windows XP Home "Clean Install", for further instructions, go to:

Note: You must use your Recovery disks, if included with your PC, to avoid driver problems, not a store-bought XP disk. The Recovery disks may be ON the hard drive, so Read The Friendly Manual FIRST to find out how to make your own Recovery disks.

you can't clear your computer fully without getting the whole thing wiped at the computer repair shop but this does just as well,
go on the internet,
tools,
internet options,
general, (at the top)
then in the middle click 'delete files'
and 'delete cookies'
then 'clear history', and it's all cleared, no trace anywhere!

You can go out and buy protection software that will clean up your computer or take it to Best Buy or some place and they can reset the mother board and all that jazz. Its all up to you. Good luck!!!
