It's because they have been hurt,used,stepped on,abused,what-have-you.And yes,there is a win-win answer to this,it's called "regaining trust." However,not everyone will regain that trust,because some have been hurt beyond repair.( Thus we have asylums)
Often when someone has been hurt deeply,and a man or woman likes this person,they have to diligently be patient,kind and loving with them until they build up trust.
Love is never an over night situation,(in any relationship),it takes time.It's like building a house,first you must build a foundation,then meticulously and sincerely build on top of that.It isn't easy,it's called "work",but if it's real,then every man and woman is willing to do it.In love,we should not think of ourselves before our loved one,they should always be first in our heart.And vice versa.

Our society has effectively emasculated the male and defeminized the female. We have taken away the very things which nature gave us to promote understanding between the genders. Then to make things really fun, the media is constantly idolizing the people who treat others badly, lie cheat, act without morals. So now we think that is the way to act.
The win answer, be as open with your partners as possible. Never be dishonest, and that includes the proverbial white lie--it is still a lie. Take back your biologically given gender role. And have respect for yourself and others.

s'me , we dont have to stop and think , the reason trust is lost is because either the wife / husband cheated on the other spouse and wrecked the marriage or dream and security they thought they had .
What's to think about ? apart from the fact that not everyone cheats unlike most poster's seem to think , and that if you keep line's of communication open you probably wouldnt end up in this situation in the 1st place? dontcha think?.

Generally men are all dogs and women are bitches. We have some common ground but we need to be wary of each other and keep our smarts. It's just healthy.

because we are different genders and dont know whats going on in their minds. us women talk open with other women and vice versa. nothing to be afraid of, guard down because we are honest with eachothers gender. we can know as many men as we want, but we will never know what its like to be one.
