I have a laptop w/ Vista Home Premium. I have a slightly older desktop that has XP Pro installed as well. I absolutely can not remember the password. I was told the only way to get by that is to "wipe it out & install XP Pro again".
Is that right? Or any other solutions? Or a website that could help?

Sorry, There is no such animal.
The only way possible is through the purchase of the Original Software on a CD from a Retail Computer Store.
Remember the use of one operating system is allowed on a single computer, not several.
You must be confused as to the installation method.
Put in the disk and follow th prompts, you shouldn't need a password to re-install software. If that were the case computer stores would have millions of computers stacked in the back of there stores waiting on a way to fix them.
Lastly if you have a Legal copy of Microsoft Sofware that you have previously registered I suggest you give Microsoft's Web Site a whirl.

Of course, there are other solutions to break your password through some special applications , but in order to download a XP Pro or any other operating software you can do so using Torrent sites like www.mininova.org or www.demonoid.com

You can not download XP, you need to buy a disk. Your machine should either have come with the cd, or a recovery system built in. Use this to re-install.

Not 100% true. You have programs out there that will get your password for you, but it is better if you seek a specialist at a pc store and they can further assit you before you or one of your friends mess anything up.
