1st there is never any time when it is safe to interupt a download of any kind. And especially Virus Software.
2nd Hopefully you don't have or never have had another companys virus software on your computer. If you have you will need to have someone walk you through the regedit to remove all traces of any previous virus software.
They do not and never have played well together.
Now comes the good part.
If you have previous versions of McAfee on your computer and you DID NOT UNINSTALL them before Installing the newest Version then there is your problem.
Go to the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs
UnInstall any Virus Software that is on there now.
Restart your computer.
Go to McAfee's site and Re-Download, or use the CD if you purchased it that way.

Shutting down your pc while installing the Mc afee antivirus might be the cause!

What you can do is System restore. Prior to the installation of the antivirus. (Whenever you install software, your Operating system makes a restore point.)

And install the antivirus again, this time don't switch off the pc!

If you did not have this problem before you installed Mcafee then uninstall it and run another antivirus program, because Mcafee sucks.
