It's a work of fiction.
Some of the ideas are taken from books such as "The Holy Blood and the Holf Grail" (referred to by some as "The holy Blood and the Wholly Ficticious"), but none of the ideas have become widely accepted as facts.

In 2005, UK TV personality Tony Robinson edited and narrated a detailed rebuttal of the main arguments of Dan Brown and those of Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln, "The Real Da Vinci Code", shown on British TV Channel 4. The program featured lengthy interviews with many of the main protagonists cited by Brown as "absolute fact" in The Da Vinci Code. Arnaud de Sède, son of Gérard de Sède, stated categorically that his father and Plantard had made up the existence of the Prieuré de Sion, the cornerstone of the Jesus bloodline theory - to quote Arnaud de Sede in the program, "frankly, it was piffle".

If the Da Vinci Code "facts" are true, that would mean that Jesus was a man and not a mystical being. (also Mary wouldn't be considered divine because all she did was have a baby). In believing the movie, you have to acknowledge the fact that Jesus was merely a man who performed great works. For some people, I think that would be enough. I think some people would still follow his teachings even if he was just a man, but obviously others would not feel the same way. Some people would need a greater power (a greater immortal being) in order to find comfort in their faith. I watched it this weekend for entertainment value only, and I thought it was a great movie.

near the beginning of 'the da vinci code' sophie neveu tells robert langdon that her car does a hundred miles to the litre.
this isn't just not true, it is ridiculous.
most of the 'facts' in the da vinci code are every bit as stupid as this, but dan brown knew that his book wasn't going to be bought by clever people.

The book seems to have some good research behind it, but the story takes a lot of liberties as well. I would say partly true.
For the answers to an even older puzzle that appears to me to be a lot more convincing... check this one out: "Gospel Enigma:" and the young heretics. It's a free read at New Free Books.

Actually speaking, NO! as the author has done his own research and found few facts which he has tried to correlate using his own instict. Generally what you see may npt be true and what you don not see may be true. So author has tried to use his clairvoyance and wisdom to corelate various facts but that cannot be called as a true fact.

Fiction, with a grain of truth, makes it easy for for the reader to believe it is fact.
This book was highly believable to a lot of people, but it is fiction.
