-Get into a sleep routine.
-Keep your bedroom dark, quiet and comfortable.
-Don't dwell on the insomnia. If you can't sleep, go somewhere and read a magazine or book. quietly.
-Don't smoke.
-Get exercise during the day.
-Try meditation.
-Learn about Bach Flower Remedies. If you would like me to go into these, you can add me as a fan.
-Reduce your stress level.
-Lavender and chamomile oils have a relaxing effect. Drop a few on your pillow and add them to your bath.
-Here is one that definitely worked for me when I had an extreme case of insomia this past spring. It is a natural hormone called Melatonin- one that the body makes on its own, but maybe your body isn't making enough. Take .3 to .5 mg 1 hour before you go to bedtime. It is best used on a short-term basis and under a doctor's supervision.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

things that help
take a good multivitamin - make sure you aren't missing any nutrients.
exercise daily and increase your exercise.
try to stay off the computer/tv late at night
try not to eat late at night
eliminate caffeine
relax and unwind before you go to bed

there's other alternative things you can try but try these first.

This is a really hard question to answer as I don't know whats keeping you awake. Try and think of whats troubling you, because if u dont solve it during the daytime, it will continue into your sleep, because your mind likes all things settled, it could be something really silly, but if you don't get enought sleep you will end up like me, depressed, sleep deprived and on medication to make me sleep. Talking to a trusted friend should help you, let them know that you appreciate their advice, or even speaking to the olds, they aren't stupid and dont judge you, as they love you, so give it a go and get whats troubling you off your mind, sometimes you dont even know what the problem is, so by talking it out you may find out what the problem is, I wish you goodluck, I know what its like not being able to sleep, that alone makes you cranky, so sort it out sooner rather than later, Goodluck to you, I hope you find the answer!
