When you say blue tongue lizard, do you mean a blue tongue skink? Native to Australia? If you do, then be careful about an outdoor enclosure. They like it nice and warm all the time and are quite the little diggers... mine loves nothing but to dig around in his wood chips all day. Also, large birds like eagles will think of these little guys as a good meal, so definately enclose the top, too. As for size, mine is full grown and does just fine in a 40 gallon tank, as long as I keep the wood chips deep enough for some tunnelling!
