It has felt by only Indian Cricket captains that too a few.Ajit Wadekar ,PataudiBedi, sunil,Kapil, they were also captains and brouht some lauralls to Indian criket, but I think they never said these things any time.Any captain will have more responsibilty. They have to concentrate on all the fieldsIt is high time that it is said by Dravid when he is at peak now.Ricky is still doing best.I remember well in 1975-76 or 1976-77,West Indian Lylod crushed the Asuei in Ausrtriala Greg Score was only in single digit, after Ians quit, there was great debate between Rodny Marsh, Greg who has to be appointted to be the captain, and finally Greg was appointed captain,In the very first match against some team Greg Scored Maximum of runs and he prooved his confidence reposed on him.Lara faced all sorts of problems,Cricket is full of citics , since it is game we have accept the things .No high post is without any thorns. It is not good on the part of Dravid to say like this.

If you look at the other way, Kapil Dev would have definitely struggled in this modern era. because as you know the Cricket fanatics are growing ever since 1983 WC. Today in India,It is believed that The Captain's position is as difficult as Prime minister's position .One bad tournament, and you will bashed up 24X7 in every channel and you will see some people burning effigies. When these things are happening around a captain, definitely his form will be affected (thats what happened to Ganguly) but the best thing in the present Indian skipper is, he is Improving on regular basis despite several disturbances created by Media & Crazy Indian cricket fanatics. and Dhoni's record ( played 10, won seven, lost zero. ) is no Joke ! even The previous captains like Kumble, Dravid,Ganguly had the same players except one or two players.but the success rate is high for the present Indian skipper. yet some people in India still doubt his ability.( Jaago India Jaago ! ) So,According to me captaining the present Indian team is more challenging than the 1980's team. I must say that Kapil was very Lucky to escape this Public Scrutiny in his times

Maybe it is right, the indian public's demand is more, also we can not leave out the fact that there is too many teams inside the indian team XI. Another thing is though we have talent we lack team spirit, everyone plays for themselves and not for the team or country. One more thing is the media, they make the players some dummy gods among the people. I have a question which always haunts me, when we have world class pace bowling training academy like the MRF pace foundation why are we still not able to produce world class pace bowlers like our Kapil Dev ji and what is happening to our spin bowling department. I think when taking all these points into consideration it is definitely true that the indian team captaincy is a crown of thorns.

Captaincy is challanging job, it is because that the he need to upgards the standards of performance of team as well as this own performance... One need to have enough mental strength to accept the failure of team same as pontig did after defeat with Zimbabwe in the first game of 20-20 World Cup... & if you are saying that only in India it is Crown of thorns then I will disagree, because there are other teams who does not perform consistantly such as WEST Indies & Pakistan , England etc. There captains have to face the same problems

Because the captain willbe undder of lot of pressure all the time as each and every decision of the captain will be put through scanner by the general public and media. For each failure of the team, captain will be criticised and attacked without appreciating the fact that it is a team game and captain alone should not be held responsioble for the bad performance.

Because a captain cannot take decisions without getting it approved from oldie Tendie and the board.

Its a very well known fact that Sachin hated Greg coz Sachin didn't get his chance to dominate and dictate terms. Everyone has gone hoarse saying that the Seniors interfere greatly in decision-making !

Because India has huge cricket fans compare to other cricket playing nations.
The captain of India has to fullfill the billion hopes and If he is not he has to get the wrath of billions.
