Poverty, disgrace and other evils are the automatic outcome of a mind deaf to instruction. You shouldn't have to apply them!
Anyway, bet you are young --full of good aspirations -- but impatient !
Then this is the lesson you should learn now. A person like you with such a broad frame of mind should be patient toward the ignorant and try to find ways to illuminate their minds.
And remember CHANGE IS GRADUAL.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Evil is never "wholesome" for any reason. Your question barely makes sense to me.

It seems that you regard some people's minds as "deaf to instruction"... which leads me to ask, who are you to be an instructor of people's minds? We must all ask ourselves that from time to time, especially if we are thinking up punishments of some kind for those who don't follow our lead. Such pride and prejudice!

It is NOT wholesome to apply poverty, disgrace or evil on anybody just because they don't follow some kind of instruction. If you were to talk about the trial of a suspected murderer who is then found guilty, convicted and sentenced to jail with due process of law, that is different. But...

...what I see of your question seems out of line. None should sit such judgment on another, to arbitrarily apply evil for evil.

It is wholesome good that overcomes evil in my book. And I'll admit also that even good can be questioned as to its veracity. Such pride and prejudice humans can have! (I seem to like the sound of that tonight)

Now I have reached the decision that if a person ("the mind") is deaf to instruction (instruction which might be for good), then we'll have to just let the darned sleeping dog lie, and only keep an eye on it.

WHAT???
Whose mind? What is wholesome about poverty & disgrace, & how could that in any way affect the deaf mind? Countering evil with evil is destructive; who will die first?
Sweetie, I think you pushed the envelope on this one. Your inquiring mind seems boundless, but there's no true philosophical answer to be given here.

Mind IS instruction. The word 'Wholesome' like the word 'perfect' is an adjective with no precise meaning, but 'perfect' is used as a verb and adjective. In one ideality evil opposed to evil is the norm, whereas others have the presumption of perfection, a condition that only exists in ideality.

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.

I always believe that it is dangerous to fight fire with fire--countering evil with evil could lead to a terrible backfire. If the mind is deaf to instruction, then leave it as it is: people are entitled to their own thoughts and if they can't be taught out of their bigotry then it isn't our responsibility anymore. That is, the best way to make them realize is if they realize it themselves. True insight can only come from within and countering "evil" with more "evil" will only make us no different from them.

The question sems interesting at first glance, but precise. Which instruction are you making allusion to? At school? In the Army? At Job?
