In XP, windows password can be rest by hittting F8, going to safe mode, login in as admin and going to user and change password or creating a new account.

If youre talking bios password, there is NO password rest by taking out the battery like one guy said. If you were registered, they can parse your bios info and regenerate a new password, but if you were not the registered owner, you need to buy a new MB.

Yeah you will need to clarify what password you need. If its the Windows password you can simply overwrite it with a new password. One way to do it is with various boot CDs or you can boot into safe mode and log in as Administrator and just push change password in the User Menu Prompt. If it is a BIOS password you can simply reset it by taking the battery out.

To boot into safe mode just hit F8 when you first start the computer.

Google this for more information.
