Unless you are concerned about fire, it doesn't matter. Power lines have no effect on health. By way of comparison, the full moon exposes us to about 2000 times more radiation than a high-tension power line.

Far enough that when you measure the 60Hz magnetic field, it registers < 2milligauss. This is a controversial subject. If you do a literature search, you will find there are many claims that power lines are safe. However, if you search the scientific literature written by unbiased researches, you will find that there are biological effects from 60Hz magnetic fields, which can be scary. Just like decades ago, cigarette companies had their own scientists do research and distort the truth, the same thing has happened with power companies. If you do have concerns about this, I would buy a Gaussmeter. See the link below.

It all depends on how much you believe the (persistant but never scientifically verified) stories about high-voltage power lines being responsible for cancer and other diseases.

Or, maybe, just far enough away that if a line came down it didn't land in your yard ☺

The house should not be directly under the HT lines. In case of line breaking the free ends should not fall on the house. Another thing tio be noticed is horizontal distance should be more than the length of the pole. If it is UG cabling system nothing to worry.

There are some subtle effects of living near a power line. If a farmer sprays pesticides near a power line, the power can ionize the pesticides. This makes them highly active and although the quantities are small they are quite damaging.
