If you can find some of those old light bulbs, yes, the radio will work. But only music from the 20 and 30's
Wouldn't thatbe nice?

I have an old radio (1962 model Phillips) known as Valve radio. It plays only one station(the local). If that station broadcasts old hitss (normally betwen 7.30 to 8.00 in the morning I can hear that. However, the valves have gone pretty weak and can received only the local station.Unfortunately, no replacement valve are available in the market. In fact, even a repairer who would attend to it is hard to come by. One had promised me to be on the lookout for old but working valves and if he came across them he may be able to touch up the old machine. I find that the reception on this oldie is better than the t ransistor radio(but that could be my personal impression)

They are called tubes, not bulbs. And if the radio was tuned to a station that played 'old music' then yes. But more likely to hear hip hop.

Only if it's tuned into an radio station that features oldies. What scares me is when people refer to music from the 70's as "oldies". I guess it's just a matter of definition.

Granny vacuum tubes are hard to come by these days. But i have several wrapped in cloth saved for what I don't know. But I do think you could find a golden oldies station late at night.

I hope you're just being silly.
They're called "vacuum tubes".
No, you wont hear old music. You'll hear whatever is currently being broadcast on AM.
But, if you're like my dorky friend who restores old radios...you can get a device that broadcasts whatever you want (CDs?) with short-range AM. This way you can listen to vintage music on your vintage radio.

you need an "Old" station too
............... grin
at least for me they do have "oldies" stations
actually for my music you can even use computer
http://www.oldiesradioonline.com/home.asp
http://www.wgtoradio.com/
and others
I am sure you could find something you would like ... try googling "Old Music On Line"
but those old radios sure sounded nicer than modern digital in my opinion
