There was a news item recently about an armless woman who was refused service at McDonald's by an employee who gasped "Girl, you ain't got no arms!"

Why are some people like that? (Not armless... I mean so silly.)

Glad to educate, Lolita: It happened at the drive through. The woman has had stunted, tiny arms, smaller than hands, since birth. She drives, goes to the grocery, and has raised two kids using her feet as nimbly as most people do hands. The counter girl wouldn't take the money from her, and slammed her hands on the counter and shouted "I'm NOT DOING THIS!" I understand your wanting the truth to be simpler than it is in this case. But, no, the truth is ugly and demands some real answers.

Peace

What did the armless woman want to do?

I think the employee was quite rude. But what would the armless woman want to do at McDonalds?

Both women were silly in this case. An armless woman can't make burgers with her mouth (think of the hygiene), and the employee could have adressed the matter a bit more carefully and politely.

I used to work w/ a guy who said if the lost an arm (we were discussing the Def Leppard drummer) he would go on welfare. People like that are ignorant. Period. I can't explain why because I don't understand it either. Until they're in the same position they will always look at people w/ unfortunate circumstances as freaks. Should it happen to that employee they will be whining about how everyone should take care of them. I stopped eating at McD's a loooong time ago.

What McDonald? Old McDonald? The one that had a farm? Are you the armless person?

Seriously, I have not heard about it. But that is cruelty.

What do you mean by "(...) [she] was refused service (...)"???

It sounds as though that employee just made an inconsiderate, ignorant & rude comment to that poor woman, that's all...

Some folks, I swear...

She sounds surprised. After all was someone else going to carry it? No big deal, we all slip once in a while.

sounds like a hoax to me but if it isn't then the clerk should be coached. That is rude an unprofessional.

Because only the best and brightest get to work at McDonald's.
