Nixon framed himself, Einstein.
If he hadn't been such a paranoid psychopath, he never would have ordered the Watergate burglary in the first place. McGovern never had a chance against him.
And making all those tape recordings of him directing the cover-up conspiracy was a pure stroke of (hmmm let's see.....what's the opposite of genius)... Oh yeah, STUPIDITY!

Pick up a copy of The Best and the Brightest or A Bright and Shining LIe. Eisenhower got us into Vietnam by interfering in elections and aiding in the the creation of the puppet government of South Vietnam. Were you actually around during the Nixon years? Just wonderng.
Nixon was his own worst enemy. We just held him accountable, but, and never did I think I would say this, I would trade him for GWB . Nixon DID do a number of good things even as a crazy and paranoid and tormented soul. He was better than Bush is.

Nixon framed Nixon. He taped conversations in which he tried to cover up a crime committed by members of his re-election committee. He had secret illegal bank accounts and he tried to by off the silence of the Watergate burglars. He lied. He was paranoid and had an "enemies list". It took him five years to end the Vietnam War after he had illegally expanded it into two other countries. Over 21,000 Americans died needlessly, while Nixon prolonged the war.

President Nixon was not framed. He was, unfortunately guilty, but what set him apart from Clinton was that he broke the law, he knew he broke the law, so he resigned gracefully rather than put the country through an ugly, drawn-out impeachment proceeding.
Clinton did not have that much class. He broke a law by lying to a grand jury, a crime that would have bought any among us 5 years in prison, and rather than resign when he knew he was caught, he arrogantly put the country through the impeachment proceeding, thinking he'd come out smelling like a rose. To many, he did, but to more of us, he just made the office of the President look ugly.

Nixon was as bungling as the Watergate burglars, and
Nixon didn't end the war he left it for Gerald Ford to clean up. Just as our current president is going to leave it to his successor.

He was an outstanding president who loved his country very much, but, he also had people around him that were crooked and he got caught up in Watergate.
He gave what the people wanted and that was out of the war that JFK sent the first men. A great foreign president.
