Drain is where you drain some liquid as in drainage; whereas ditch is a big hole where you dump things, usually rubbish!

'Which balls are big' is grammatically correct and appropriate if you are comparing two sets or pairs of balls, though it sounds elegant to say 'which ball is big'! Anyway, it depends on the context and what you are referring to!

In sentence three, first you should say 'Can I say (not said) to my son...' ' There is/was a beautiful fountain outside the shopping centre' -enough to convey the message. Advisable to use fewer words as much as possible! "What a beautiful fountain!" - perfectly right.

A fountain is an ornamental feature in a pool, lake or park which consists of a jet of water that is forced up into the air by a pump!

Satisfied! Well, my bill for the above advice will follow - check your post!

A drain is covered; a ditch is open.

Which balls are big? is correct.

Your sentences about the fountain are not correct. You don't capitalize them and they don't have correct end punctuation or quotation marks.

The fountain is beautiful.

A drain is specifically for drainage, whereas a ditch may be used for many things; hence ditch is by far the broader term.

Which balls are big? Obviously.

Neither of your two sentences are right.
