I am sleep deprived to point of needing sticks to keep my eyes propped open. My canine daughter has chronic bronchial asthma. She coughs and hacks keeping me up trying to relax her and medicate her on schedule. It's been this way for about 8 weeks. Right now she is asleep and I am unable to go back to sleep. I'm a chronic sufferer of insomnia as well as having RLS (restless leg syndrome) and REM (rapid eye movement).

Check on the net or ask anyone that is in the military. They are all usually sleep deprived. Sleep deprivation is also is a major cause of truck driving accidents. Legally after 115 hours of no sleep a person is considered legally insane.I hope that helps.

Start with a DC battery as the voltage source. Then cut off equal lengths of various kinds of wire. Get a variety of materials, gauges (diameter size), and styles for good comparisons. If you really want, go find a 'sleep lab' near you and ask if you can sit in one night or something and watch.

The factors you listed are things you can only measure on a physical basis and not one you can measure when they sleep. You really need an overnight sleep study done to find out if they are lacking REM sleep (deep sleep) which affects memory retention, moods, high blood pressure, and heart problems. dude... i did that exact same thing for the science fair last year! biter... just kidding! haha there's memory tests online... take them before and after you do the experiment... and talk about how you eventually lose focus. i read this hecka interesting essay that said that when you dont sleep enough your brain actually goes to sleep when you're... awake. [when you're mind suddenly goes blank, that's what that is.] also, i forget what it was, either long term or short term memory becomes better during sleep deprivation. but dont take my word for it... try it yourself! lol.
