Not pliers. There is a special tool. I just don't know the name of it. It would fit over the square fitting to turn it.

I don't know about the different sizes, but the spigot is a tamper proof spigot. Yeah....buy one at Home Depot like everyone else says

what you have is a loose key faucet.
There are several sizes out there.
If you have a brand name and model then getting a key is easy.
However if not you need to know the exact size, not an about size.
There are some keys that have 3 or 4 sizes,
kind of like a mini lug nut tool.
In a pinch, you may be able to use a socket set.
Do not use pliers.
Good Luck

Its called a water key. About the size of your palm with 4 different sizes. Home Depot, Lowes or plumber supply house will have them.

Why don''t you just go to Home Depot and get another spigot top? they do sell them. I keep several in my box for people that loose them.
