There aren't that many around and most are in the South, so my question, you have to go to the South to find any of them...Mine was Antietam.
Wow, what an eerie place, was my impression. 35,000 men dead in just a few days fighting. The stone bridges and houses still standing, looking pretty new, not really all that old.
The funny thing:all the people living around there call it 'Sharpsburg', even though in school we had to call it Antietam, or risk missing the question.
They weren't born back then so why are they so adamant at calling battle fields by different names?. Anyway, quite an experience.

I dont know if Harpers Ferry qualifies but it was where they had a slave revolt, and I think some soldiers might have shot up all the slaves to put it down. It was neat there were renactors and stuff.

I've been to many. I was impressed with the cemeteries at Vicksburg. The monuments were really something. Just an observation: The Confederate cemetery seemed to be a little better taken care of than the one for the Northern troops.
