In problems of statics and dynamics, we have to identify all the forces acting on a body. In most cases, reactive forces can be easily arrived at using Newton's third law.

When we walk, we apply force on the ground which gives equal and opposite reaction. The horizontal component of this reactive force helps us to move forward.

All objects on earth are attracted by the force of gravitation towards its centre. We call this force weight of the objects. This weight is exerted on the surface of the earth. The reactive force due to Newton's third law balances the weight. In the absence of such a reactive force, all objects would have moved to the centre of the earth and no life would have been possible on earth.

It is being used from time immemorial. But Newton only tried to state it as a LAW. Since the time we get up from the bed the application of the third law starts. To get up we have to push downwards, to walk forward we have apply a backward push. For pulling and pushing we have to apply forces in the opposite direction. Firing a bullet, launching a rocket are the examples of third law. But not from our daily life. Swimming in a pool, rowing a boat etc are again a few more examples of the third law.

Rowing a Boat:
When you row, you exert a force backwards and the result is you move forward!

Rockets:
Hot gases at high pressure are released downwards, hence moving the rocket upwards

Similarly, many activities, like skating etc, take place in accordance to the 3rd law.

In rockets. The backward-directed force exerted by the fuel on the air at the exhaust pipe will have an equal and opposite reaction force exerted back on the rocket in the forward direction, thus propelling it forward.

Newton's 3 regulations of action enable us to start our clarification of how Newton replaced our expertise of the Universe by using enumerating his 3 regulations of action. Newton's First regulation of action: I. each merchandise in a state of uniform action has a tendency to proceed to be in that state of action until an exterior rigidity is utilized to it. This we understand as in reality Galileo's seen inertia, and that's generally termed purely the "regulation of Inertia". Newton's 2nd regulation of action: II. the courting between an merchandise's mass m, its acceleration a, and the utilized rigidity F is F = ma. Acceleration and rigidity are vectors (as indicated by using their symbols being displayed in slant ambitious font); in this regulation the direction of the rigidity vector is an identical through fact the direction of the acceleration vector. it quite is the main efficient of Newton's 3 regulations, through fact it helps quantitative calculations of dynamics: how do velocities exchange while forces are utilized. be conscious the essential distinction between Newton's 2d regulation and the dynamics of Aristotle: in accordance to Newton, a rigidity reasons purely a transformation in velocity (an acceleration); it does not shelter the speed as Aristotle held. it quite is at times summarized by using asserting that under Newton, F = ma, yet under Aristotle F = mv, the place v is the speed. to that end, in accordance to Aristotle there is purely a velocity if there's a rigidity, yet in accordance to Newton an merchandise with a definite velocity keeps that velocity until a rigidity acts on it to reason an acceleration (it quite is, a transformation interior the speed). As we've pronounced before jointly with the communicate of Galileo, Aristotle's view seems to be extra in accord with ordinary experience, yet it quite is by using a failure to take excitement in the area performed by using frictional forces. as quickly as account is taken of all forces performing in a given subject this is the dynamics of Galileo and Newton, no longer of Aristotle, that are got here upon to be in accord with the observations. Newton's 0.33 regulation of action: III. for each action there is an equivalent and opposite reaction. This regulation is exemplified by using what occurs if we step off a boat onto the economic company of a lake: as we circulate interior the direction of the shore, the boat has a tendency to bypass interior the choice direction (leaving us facedown interior the water, if we're not careful!).

propulsion of rockets, rowing of a boat, flying of birds, etc. let me describe one

during the flight of bird, the bird apllies an action force on the air by its wings ...as a reaction..opposite to action force, the air also exerts an action force onthe bird thus the bird moves forward..
