Years ago I was given a gift. It was 1 square inch of land in Ireland. I lost the deed. I was told that it was purchased from the Rolling Stone magazine. I wish I knew and if I could request a copy of the deed. I was also told that it would be flagged with my name on it. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Well besides the fact that one square inch of deed is nothing, it really does not matter that you lost the deed. Losing the deed does not take you off as owner of the land. County records should have everything correct with your name on the property (land). Check in with your local tax authority for details.

Since the land is in Ireland (and I am assuming you aren't) "checking with the county" will be pretty expensive. It's obvious that you understand 1 sq in isn't enough to do anything with, you just want to know if you still own the land? Unless you have an address, apn, or another identifier for the property, it is going to take some extensive research on your part. If your name is common, you will have a tough time with that. Try checking with the magazine, if it was "their" promotional, they should have records as to where etc.. If you do find the land, you will probably have to produce the deed in some form, I am wondering if it was a recorded document with a title company, if so, they will have access to the deed. Good luck. I hope you find your land.

To be brutally frank with you , you are more likely to get grief over one sq inch of land than it is actually worth. It is best that you lost the bit of paper it would save you a lot of unnecessary waste of time and effort even thinking about it. These are clever scams that take a bit of money here and there for nothing. If you cant build a dog house on it without paying rent, forget it.

It's probably been sold for unpaid back taxes. BTW that's gonna be one small flag going on there!!
