I have no faith in them at all-given how many times the U.S. government has lied to us it's hard to believe anything they say, on any topic, ever.

I suggest you should find out the root causes of 911. Starting from personal profile of bin Laden, how and why the jidhad formed, how the al-Qeada and Taliban organized, the radicalism of the Islamic religion, the importance of fatwa, the intellegence groups studied and investigated super and counter terrorisms for years, etc. You should also find out how and why the terror attack to Spain in history. How to find out the conspiracy of the stock markets in New York, Hong Kong stock exchage and Chicargo stock Exchange. They made many powerful and rich peoples in this world get super rich, the rich getting richer and the poor getting more and more suffering. The staggering inflation of everything in this world making the poor and the weak can't make their life simple and easy! When and how you know politicians are lying? From beginning to the end is the true and most pertinent answer. I don't see much safer on top of London train stations blast and other terror attacks in other parts of this world. The terrorists are hovering our government and awaiting the chance to attack anytime.

Why did the government tell the people that the air quality after the collapse of the towers was non-toxic, when it is common knowledge that the air was loaded with asbestos, metals, and all manner of garbage that IS harmful ? Why let people go back to that area, knowing they were endangering their lives by doing so ?
This didn't happen on 9/11, but in its' immediate aftermath....

No, especially when there are so many secretive plans still in progress. For 40 yrs pilots could have firearms but 2 months b4 attack govt changed the rule to NO firearms for pilots.

ON WHAT do you base your accusation that "the government failed us..."? As to being much safer, HOW MANY attacks on US soil since 09-11-2001 ? NONE. Could your Liberal candidates for President--Al Gore and John Kerry have stood before you today and made the same claim as Bush can? I VERY MUCH DOUBT IT.

So, you want to blame the govt for 9/11 (instead of blaming the radical Islamo-Fascists), but then criticize them for trying to prevent the next one by complainig about how you are losing your rights, the Patriot Act, wiretaps, etc.
