Suppose I have one hole in the ground. I add another hole in the ground to it. I now have one hole in the ground, albeit a slightly larger hole. Therefore 1 + 1 =1

Or consider a different example. Suppose I have one infinity. I add one infinity to it. I now have one infinity. Therefore, 1 + 1 = 1.

It really is just that simple.

He's talking about concatenation, not simple addition. So the answer is 11.
