What do you think? Will the 2000's have something to remember besides reality game shows?

Maybe this has been a depressing era, the more creative we allow ourselves to be the more excitement we can stir up. Maybe if we turn off the news, and write our own music, try to work more toward a brighter more colorful fashion and heck big hair again. I liked caverichies on men and red lipstick lined in maroon on women. Boy George and Tone Loc got me dancing. Not very political, I always voted for the wrong guy. Think I'll laugh at a comedy show on TV if I can find one.

I think the 2000s will be the first decade to see a female or black president. I honestly think that the close race will be between Hillary and Obama next year. It will be a very exciting even for the USA and will be a significant mark on this decade. Also, we are in the age of things such as the iPod and other products that you can't go a single day without hearing about. Those things might end up in history classes in a couple hundred years...just like the cotton gin and other inventions. Unfortunately I didn't experience the 80s because I wasn't born yet, but I think that the 90s were way cooler than the 2000s are. It seems like people nowadays are more disturbed and self-destructive than ever. It's a bit sad what the world has come to.

Rap replaced into purely taking off to return into its own interior the ninety's. there replaced into countless experimenting and thats good for the type...additionally on condition that record labels did no longer precisely "understand" what might sell, there replaced into waaaaaaaaaaay extra selection, IMO. So I have been given to roll with the ninety's. percentbig Nas Jay Outkast Goodie Mob UGK Wu-Tang Trick Daddy money money Pete Rock and CL CNN Fabolous the record is going on...

I agree with you 100%. The 80's had great music and a lot of actual talent. Today, all we really have are reality shows and young starlets in rehab. That should really leave a dent in the history books.

I wondered the same thing the other day. This decade seems as full of life as one of those gray shadow avatars -- no identity whatsoever. Everything that's going on in TV & music seems to be the same blend of sights & sounds we've heard, with influences from all past decades. It's all a mish-mash of boring nothingness.

Rock music sucks now, Rap sucks it should have ran it's course by now, and the rest of it is all fluff songs by teenage girls that are on their way to rehab, also MTV used to be good, videos all day and nite, do they even play videos anymore? I think overall the movies were better because it wasn't all high tech computer effects they had to rely on a plot.
I think some of you are getting confused with historic.

I agree, do you pay any attention at all to what is going on? I mean, we had one election that people still argue if it was stolen (though it is beyond the point to argue) and had a rare occurence because the popular majority was different than the electoral majority, another election that was almost as close, 9/11, the death of a very famous pope. What do you want?

The 9/11 attacks. The war.... There was that one week in D.C. of the serial sniper.
School shootings...
The space launch that killed the astronauts.
The Saw movies.
Lots of memorable things in 2000 so far and it's not over yet.
But you are right. It's not as hip as the 80s. I miss the neon colors, awesome music, fancy fads, and great icons.

2000's will go down as the pussification of the American. With all this politically correct B.S., its a wonder anyone can keep any friends anymore. Makes me want to vomit...scratch that, makes me what to have an internal to external excretion episode.

i think there has been a lot from the broken curse of the great bambino, to all these young slut singers/actresses screwing up, to katrina destroying a city, to 9/11, to hybrid, mars rover finding evidence of water, to recent happening in sports including nba ref bettign, ne patriots cheating, vick beinga dumb fk, bonds breaking most recognized record in sports.... i could keep going.

It is not as hip because of the East Asia Economic Crisis and because of 911. No one has any time for anything fun filled. We need to be on the lookout for terrorists.
