is there a secret that I am missing? Is it just practice? I have 2 pairs of heels, one is a wedge and one is one of those tiny pointy heels, both are about 2 1/2 or 3 inches, and they are ridiculously hard to walk in! Anyone have any secrets? I'm going to vegas next weekend, but I dont want to fall over and break my ankle when I have been drinking...

ok-- Comfort isnt really a problem, I have really picky feet so i made sure I got super comfy ones.

As for the 13 year old-- a duh.. I'm 21. which is why I'm going to vegas. I think its pretty sad there are 13 year olds walking around in 3 inch heels...

I just feel really awkward in them and was wondering if there was a certain way to walk without falling over, balance is my biggest thing I guess. And not walking like a goober.

Hell-o don't walk on your toes that will make it hurt like a b-tch. I thought there would be a lot of useful advice here lol.
Go heel-toe. Up stairs, both heel and toe for stability, down stairs- toes.
When standing, rest back on the heel so your toes don't go numb. It helps with long term pain.

There is an old proverb : "Do not run before you can walk"

Wearing high heels takes practice.

Remember that wearing high heels alters your balance, your gait, the way you walk, the angle of your feet, the stretching of your leg muscles.

So, start with a heel slightly higher than you are used to. Get used to that height and work up (excuse the pun).

For my part, I regularly wear 4" heels, although, on occasions I have worn 5" heels in comfort.

It takes time and practice.

One last thought. We are all different. Everyone has a limit - there is no point in wearing heels higher than your tolerance level. Clothes are supposed to be comfortable.

It takes practice. The human body is not designed for high heels. Walk around the house in your heels to get used to them. Walk as you normally would in a heel-toe gait and don't look at the floor. You know where the floor is. Watch wear you're going and stand up straight.

wear your wedge heels for a while until you can walk in those really well then move onto your kitten heels because they are harder. walk around your house with a book of your head as it will help improve your posture and balance which will help you stay upright.

i'd suggest wearing the wedges if you have trouble walking in heels, because they're a lot easier to walk in than stilettos.

How old are you? I'm 13 and can walk in heels! I admit, I've fallen a couple times in like, 3 inch heels (my mom's), but why can't you wear some really cute metallic flats? Then you wouldn't have to worry about being drunk and falling over....

It's basically practice and having confidence... Start wearing heels now before you go start from kitten heels and work up...
