if you agree that 3=2+1 then you will also agree that
-5 + 3 = -5 + 2 + 1 so 3x-2y=8 is -3x+3x-2y=-3x+8 and that equals to -2y = -3x+8 or 2y=3x-8
if you do something like that you will get 3x=2y+8 now divide by 3 and you get x=(2/3)y+(8/3) and for the same reason 2y=3x-8 becomes y=(3/2)x-(8/2) or y=(3/2)x-4
what does y=(3/2)x-4 mean? if you change x for 0 you get that
y=(3/2)(0)-4 since any number times 0 is 0 , the last formula means that y=0-4 or y=4 so when x is 0 y is 4
if you do that for 1 you get y=(3/2)(1)-4 or
y=(3/2)-4 because any number times 1 is the same number and y=(3/2)-4 means y=(3-8)/4 y= -5/4
so if you change the x in the formula for a number you will get the value of y
you do that for a lot of points and you'll see that if you find how much is the y for some x (let's say x is 5) and how much it is for x+1 (that is, for 6) you will have the y for 5 and the y for 6, substract the y you got for 5 from the y you got for 6 and you will get how much did y change if you add 1 to x, that is called the slope of the formula
so since the slope is the same if you find it with 5 and 6 or for 0 and 1, it's easier to find for 0 and 1, we have calculated those before

hi Brittany: Given: p1 = ( -5,-2) p2 = (3,-a million) y = mx+b m= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) locate the equation of a line in slope intercept variety that passes in the process the pair of things , (-5,-2) and (3,-a million) Step a million: m= (y2-y1)/(x2- x1) - equation for the slope of two factors m = (-a million - -2) / ( 3 - - 5) ) - plug in or substituting x1,x2,y1,and y2 with there values m= a million / 8 - Addition or Subtraction ( your determination) Step 2 : y = mx+b - The y slope intercept variety of the equation -2 = a million/8 (-5) + b - plug in or substituting x with -5 and y with -2 -2 = -5/8 + b - Multiplication -2 + 5/8 = -5/8 + b + 5/8 - including the additive inverse of a selection to the two part of the equation to bypass it over to the different part of the equation -sixteen/6 + 5/8 = b - Addition and changing -2 to -sixteen/8 to get a ordinary denominator so i will upload or substract the fraction jointly b = - 11/8 - Addition lower back b = - a million 3/8 - branch so the equation is y = a million/8x - a million 3/8 evidence or examine y = mx + b - The y slope intercept variety of the equation a million/8 (3) - a million 3/8= - a million - plug in or substituting m,x,b, and y with a million/8,3, - a million 3/8 , and -a million 3/8 - a million 3/8 = - a million - Multiplication - a million = -a million - Subtraction it examine and equals So the equation y = a million/8x - a million 3/8 is the equation of a line in slope intercept variety that passes in the process the pair of things , (-5,-2) and (3,-a million) i wish this helps.

Sloper intercept form is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept, therefore to write the equation in slope-intercept form you have to isolate y.
The first step is to subtract 3x from each side to get -2y=8-3x.
Second, divide each side by -2 to get y=-4+3/2x
For proper slope intercept form switch the -4 and 3/2x to get y=3/2x-4.
Since m=3/2 and b=-4,
the slope equals 3/2 or 1.5
and the y-intercept is -4

You have this original equation
3x - 2y = 8
Realize, what you really want is y=ax + b
First, move 3x to the right of the equal sign
-2y = 8 - 3x
Multiply both sides by -1 to make the left side positive
2y = -8 + 3x
Rearrange the right side
2y = 3x - 8
Divide both side by 2 to make it y=
y=(3/2)x - 4
Slope is 3/2
Y intercept is -4
The equation is y=(3/2)x - 4
