i lost my sims 2 serial key anyone know what to do?

I made the mistake of not registraing the game when I first got it and now I got a new computer and can't find the code anywhere what can I do is there a code I can use?

Normally I would tell people to go to the EA Games website and log in under your account name and find the serial number that way, but since you never registered the game, I believe the only way you can get another serial number is if you contact EA Games and pay their $10 fee for a new serial number. The information on how to do that is on the Sims2 site and EA Games' site also.

If you can still get on your old computer where the game is still installed you can retrieve your serial number by following these steps:

-Click your start button and go to run and type in regedit and hit enter.
-On the left side of the screen that pops up click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
-then the plus sign next to Software
-then the plus sign next to Electronic Arts
-then the plus sign next to EA Games in there you will find all your installed games listed.
-Click the plus sign next to the game and in there is a folder with the name ergc
-click that and then on the right panel you'll see a number under data - that is your registration number for that game.

Be careful in there, you can really mess up your computer if you play around in the registry edit. It's a good idea to make a copy to your desktop before you edit anything.

Also, once you get your code might I suggest writing it down on the CD itself? I do that with all my game codes, so as long as I have the installation disk I will have my installation code.
