Wear a dress that comes a little below the knees and has a full skirt portion. Get something that looks good on you and is in a pleasing fabric. You also want to have something that you can wear in the future, so don't spend a gazillion dollars on something you'll only wear once. If you have a store like Macy's near you, go there and do some serious shopping around (also look for sales). The important thing is that you like the dress because it really looks good on you. Some simple gold (doesn't have to be real gold) jewelry makes a nice accent; and your shoes should complement your dress and be of a height that is comfortable for you to walk and dance in. Makeup should be in moderation and any eyeshadow you use should be complementary to your dress and very subtle. Happy shopping, and have a great time celebrating with your friend.

Look at concepts worn by celeb women on the red carpet usually at MTV or Teen choice awards. Usually awards shows dress code is very much wedding genre! Google red carpet photos..but don't pick what u are not comfortable with., especially the oscars are really over-the-top.You need to be comfortable in ur own skin, not just wearing a pretty dress.

Wear a dress. If it takes place in the day time, then wear light colors like blue, green, pink. If it's at night wear black or navy blue. Wear black high heels because it matches all kinds of dresses. Bring a fancy purse to match your dress. Hope this helps, enjoy the wedding!

Don't wear white. Apparently wearing black is now ok. Wear a classy dress that is flattering on you. Nothing that could be considered trashy in the least. Knee-length. Not a lot of boobage. High heels.
