That sounds about right, right?

almost, but no, its more like if you think about the way blood flows in veins, and not really in our flesh. (unless inside of a capillary)

Inside the "vein" is hot dark matter and the "flesh" around it is cold.

mass / blood
flows through the
hot / veins
and doesn't flow into the
cold / flesh

reminds me of the idea of the "path with least resistance" and electricity. the path seems to be the hottest dark matter area

or

like the trunk and branches of a tree
like a neuron in our brain

other than that they don't mention what dark matter is.
thats still a LARGE debate.

in regards to their future, who cares. lets understand the present first...........really now.

There are other competing theories. The dark matter theory says about 22% of the universe must be made of non-baryonic matter, which is a type of matter that does not interact via electromagnetic force, only interacts gravitationally. About 75% is dark energy, responsible for the expansion of the universe.
There is a relativistic theory that describes the motion of galaxies without mentioning dark matter, called TeVeS (short for Tensor Vector Scalar), its not very popular but has recently gained some support.

Sounds about right... But the real question is this:

Are Dark Matter and Dark Energy the stuff of pre-universe, or is it what the entire universe will be in several billion years?
Is Dark Energy the way of the future?

Well, I'm not sure that I believe everything in the article. But anyway, dark matter isn't "transparent". It can block light so it is opaque.
