Once again the democrats have shown they dont play this political game as well as the republicans do.
For the past 2 days the attention has been shifted to attacking general betrayus's credibility, rather than all the falicies he exasterbated in his report.
What Moveon.Org should do is take out another Full Page add, showing exactly all the inconsistencies with General Betray us's report.
Detail it all Line by line, and bring the attention right back to the issues -- rather than where the republicans have taken it...completely off the true facts they are fighting to put a cloud over.
If the dems cant do it...Moveon.Org should!!!
= = == = = = =
The entire republicans arguement is how dare anyone question general petreaus' credibility because hes a general.
Well the president is athe president of the U.S.....Dick Chenney is the V.P.
and they are not at all credible.
The Republicans expect people to follow positions....
the smart person follows truth first.
the general betrayed us!

Hey litthrse55 -- I was in the army knucklehead.
Ive shot and own my own weapons.
And your mentality on wr shows you are still young minded .
because war should be a last resort, and somehow it was bush's first and only concern.
War isnt about killing...wars about imposing your will on a battelfield meant to draw your opposition into submission, and should be carried out with as few loss of life as possible.
Which is why the only surge that should have ever been is a political surge...
but bush appears to hold your mentality...lets just kill it.
Its a shame.
youre a shame!

Total BS!! General Petreaus told the truth about how we are doing and what can be expected. He is a hero and has served us well. Too bad that the Democrats are so hungry for votes that they will dishonor someone who they actually voted for and gave their opinions that he was 100% credible. How quickly they have changed their tune! Hillary is disgraceful. Moveon.org is backing down already. They made an error in judgement by putting out the ad in the NY Times. The General never betrayed you at all. You are misinformed.

You're right, the "General Betray Us" slur was a cheap shot, just because he has an easily punnable name. It was like calling an opponent "ugly." It had nothing to do with the facts.
Also Petraeus was at least semi-honest when he answered the only relevant question: Does the Iraq War make the U.S. more secure? Petraeus replied, "I don't know."
To me it seems obvious that the answer is no. Bush has weakened our security by sending our soldiers to be targets in Iraq instead of sending them to Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the real enemy is. A general who willfully attacked the wrong target would be court-martialled. Our Commander-in-Chief deserves no less.

i'm an American and that i do no longer desperately choose a timetable for withdrawal. i think of time-honored Petraeus is an highly intelligent and honorable guy, who's lots extra able to accurately comparing the area on the floor in Iraq than absolutely everyone sitting in DC. As for the surge - did you examine the Jones rfile? despite if it pronounced that we start up reducing our troops, it highlighted the form of the Iraqi military and expressed the perception that they might have the means to take over extra accountability for his or her own protection - i.e. we would have the means to start reducing our troops sometime next year through fulfillment of the surge methods. ... it sounds a sprint like what Petraeus is asserting.

General Petraeus is a soldier. As a soldier, he follows orders. I think it was very wrong to put the general in that position. His job is to carry out orders, not sell them. The reason he was used to address congress is bush knows if he went to congress he would have been fried by both dems or reps. Once again,as in the Viet Nam war, he is hiding! History will label him & the vp as one of the worst in history.

No, actually it is how so inconsistent is the Dem argument that they have to resort to attacking the credibility of a man they put in charge to lead the war.

and the truth is ??
How is it determined?
I admit Bush has not executed this war well- should hav had 300k troops there fro 24 months and came hoem but now that the job is half done better to???
and how will coming home help bring peace and security to the world and the US?
and who is it that you say is better qualified than a general who is trained , educated and experianced in these matters to tell us the truth?
and what is your plan to enable us to fight our enemies over there in their part of the world instead of here in our own backyard?
and what is your plan to convert them from enemies to friends?
and what it you plan if they succeed and take away your right to free speach, internet acess, religous freedom and the rights of women gays and blacks?
and who should be leading the fight over there?
and explain to me again why we are the bad guys in this war they started and saddam encouraged and threatened to join with a weapons of mass destruction ( whether he had them or not- cry wolf enough...) against extremist who hate those who are not muslim enough to make them happy?
and exaclty what fallacies did he perpetrate??
what failures did he fail to ackowldge?
What success did he leave out?
and without any sarcasm...an honest question . Honestly why is this important to you? I hate this war because it may very well cost me my son since he is on his way over there.. but I don't see any advantage to moving the war zone here instead of continuing the fighting there in their own area.I know innocents get killed but if the iraq people would stand up to the evil in their midsts then I would feel like they are innocent - as it stands "those who choose to not fight for good , fight for evil by allowing it to exist without their protest"

well let's see - he has dedicated his life to serving our country by being in the military.
I'm sorry but the president and VP hold far more credibility than you- the only reason why you don't give them credibility is because you follow conspiracy theories.
