Im going to college next year in new orleans, and i live in houston. I was looking at buying a truck. I looked at some used Land rover discoveries and they were pretty cheap. there was one that was a 2003 or 2004, and had 54000 miles, and it costed 13998.(to keep in mind im going to try to use the truck for about 5 more years) Is that truck good or bad? And is it a good reliable truck to have? And lastly is it going to be expensive to keep up? If so how much do you think?

I have a Land Rover Discovery. It is not reliable, and upkeep is very expensive.

I had always wanted one, I thought they looked fun to drive- and they are. But they aren't made well at all. It has been in the shop multiple times and several electrical things have just stopped working- it basically is just slowly falling apart. Something minor seems to break every couple of weeks (sunshade, gas lock, auto lock, radio knob, etc.). When I mention this to others, everyone seems to already know that land rovers are crap. I wish someone would have told me before I bought it!!

Good luck!!

With a used car or truck it is hard to tell. I would think that you would be better off getting a Ford or Chevy where there are plenty of parts floating around, if you need them. There are also a lot more dealers and repair shops that are around. The parts would also be cheaper and more mechanics that are familiar with the engines. An Explorer or Expedition, or a F-150 super cab at the least.

good luck with school.

The land rovers are cheap because people do not want them. They are in the shop more than on the road. Remember if it sounds to good .............

Rover was a great vehicle but in the last ten years or so they are nothing but a headache.
