I've been renting for 22 months and the house was up for sale 3 weeks after we moved in by another agent. Is this right? Don't you think it's a fault advertising trying to get someone to rent a house? Very annoying with the inspection as I have a 2 year old boy and I am also working. I have been complaining to the rental agency but nothing happened, what can I do? I have also called REIQ but again nothing can be done only if I take them to the tribunal court. Any suggestions?

I'm amazed at the consideration you've given the owner. You've been very tolerant of the continual invasion of your entitlement under the Residential Tenancy Act to "quiet enjoyment" of your rental property. This whole situation is totally unacceptable and both the real estate agent representing the owner and the owner himself are relying on your kind nature to walk all over you.

File a complaint with REIQ. It doesn't cost much and costs nothing at all if you meet their "low-income" criteria. You sound well educated and should well be able to present your case in court. (You can't have representation by a lawyer anyway and nor can they.)

On the form you have to fill out, ask for a rental reduction or rent-free period to compensate you for continual intrusion on your privacy.

The tribunal court is not scary. If possible, take with you to court any records you have of inspections to the property and records of rent paid on time.

You'll win this hands down!!!

is the price of the house within your budget? if so, maybe see if you could purchase it. if that is not an option, either deal with it and just live your life, or move. most likely less money would be spent moving than trying to deal with it in court! good luck!

you need to read your lease, does your lease state that this can happen?? if so your stuck, most realtors feel its easier to sell a house "lived in" instead of empty.

You're paying for the use of the property. If the owner wants to sell it, he's allowed to do that.
