Check your warrantied for parts, labor. I worked at Tecumseh they shut the factory off 2 ? years ago It was a good engine . So is Briggs. The carburetor on the Briggs engine was designed by an engineer that worked at Tecumseh's in !965 ? not sure. Any way he had a design for a new type of Carburetor,Tecumseh did not want to change. So he went to Briggs.I think this is the reason Briggs is still up and running. This is the reason the Tecumseh is $100 cheaper. It is good but get replacements for as long as you want to keep it. I know a guy with a cast iron Tecumseh 3 !/2 Hp engine. I want him to sell it to me. It was good Plus you get a lot of muscle pushing it. If your Briggs is still running keep it

I have a Honda generator (small mind you) but still working after 19 years of abuse. My Tecumseh and Briggs lawnmowers always require work.

if you were to go to a construction site and see what professionals use for generators etc. you won"t see a b&s or a tecumseh. you will see honda, kawasaki, yamaha. there"s no comparison. however, the cost is quite higher for these higher quality engines.
