Well im 18 and my dad has been drinking ever since i could remember. Hes an average guy he works early and comes home but when he comes home theres usually a 12 pack of budweiser with him which he gets right up the street. Usually its every other day but for the past few months hes been drinking after he gets off work almost everyday and on the weekends its just an excuse to drink i guess. He consumes about 8-12 beers when ever he drinks. After hes done drinking he usually eats dinner then passes out. Its not like he doesnt spend time with me or anything hes a great father but im just consurned about his health and how can i progressivly stop him from drinking or atleast cut him down to maybe like 3 beers a day or something because 12 is just too much and sometimes he gets annoying when hes drunk lol

hey im so glad i can answer this for u. my dad was the same way.. except he was the mean drunk. but he started drinking odules (fake beer) so he gets the taste an can still do the things that he associates beer with, without actually having real beer. my dad likes the taste of them to so its a good alternative. i wish ur dad the best of luck, mine has completely turned around, its great.

I know how you feel. When I was younger the whole reason my parents split up was because of my fathers drinking. My mom always tells me that my father could not sleep if there was a beer in the refrigerator, he had to drink it. I understand where you're coming from because god forbid, he get in a car while he's drinking right? Well my father is back to drinking...so we're in the same boat. I truly believe my best advice for you is as stated in previous answers, when sober, tell your father how you feel. You're not going to solve this problem over night, because he will have to come to terms with himself and realize he has a problem. However, you as his son telling him how it makes you feel might encourage him to take a step forward not only for you, but for himself. Good luck.

You can't make anybody do anything. All you can do is talk to him when he's sober and tell him that you really enjoy spending time with him when he's not drinking. Tell him that you miss spending time with him. If that doesn't make him stop, there's nothing you can do.
