I do grave stone rubbings as part of my art and I can frequently be found lurking around a local historical cemetery. No one has been buried there in over 100 years, but still, there is this dog that trots on into the cemetery and will sit quietly by one of the graves as if he's waiting for something. The docents tell me he comes there every day and always sits by the same grave and they have no idea why. I'm not sure what to think of that, I just know I've tried to share a sandwich with him from time to time, but apparently dogs don't care for roasted eggplant on ciabatta with goat cheese as he always ignores it. He just sits. I want to take a friend of mine who is a photographer out there to get pictures but I'm not sure it's really possible to capture the true character of this dog and his patient vigil by the grave of someone he never knew. Good boy, I guess.
