Is there a project she wanted you to do, and that she'd like to have done- i.e. painting a room, re-doing the bathroom. The day she arrives make the day all about the two of you or if you have a family about all of you. Also, maybe keep a notebook and everyday write to her in it and when she gets home give it to her.
By the way, I think your awesome for even wanting to do something special

Home cooked meal, quiet time with you and the family and probably time to rest after coming home after so long! Try and keep things calm the first night, and use the next day to catch up on things you've missed, be sure to ask her how school was, and just let her talk as she's probably missed talking to her family.

you are just a great guy. if it was me the nicest thing would be to have a calm house when i get home, laundry done, and everyone clean and happy, dishes done and dinner already made. that would make me deleriously happy. i say this because that is what i hear from women time and time again who go away and then come back and are dismayed that they walk in the door and it is like a dirty bedlam, all at once.

Think of something that you could decide to do for her. It should take some planning and serious effort on your part and should focus on showing her how much you honor, respect, and cherish her. If you can honor her in front of friends, family, and coworkers, more the better. I don't mention specific ideas because it needs to come from you.
THEN take her on a romantic get away.
Hats off to one of the good guys!

Ah! How sweet are you? ... I know it is a little different, but when my hubby comes home from deployment, he likes to just be in his own home ... so I usually plan a special dinner at home with a card welcoming him home and a small celebratory cake decorated by the kids. And then just a quiet evening at home so we can all bond again.

Depending on how long you have been married. I think if you have been married for a long time women tend to appreciate the small things. If there is something she has been "nagging" you to do then do that.
What's her favorite thing? or what is something that she never takes the time to do but enjoys?
Definitely do something relaxing though when she gets back.
