All babies can open their eyes at birth (unless they are really early preemies) but if you are referring to the moment right after birth the room may be too bright for some babies. So they might not want to open their eyes right after. I gave birth at home so we kept the room dim. My son opened his eyes right after. Also it's a hard ordeal they might just be too tired. Hope that helped!

Depends on the mood they are in in my opinion. Some babies were happier with their eyes shut in the womb. Isnt that kind of like shaking someone out of their sleep with a big bright light on?

They are not used to the bright light of the hospital room when they are first born since it has been dark for months. Their eyes will adjust eventually.

My first son had his eyes open while my youngest didn't. Know one really knows why. Med's what you eat and even labor stress have in impact on the results.
