They make a whinning noise, especially when coming to a stop. I think it's only the automatics. I can be walking down the street and hear when one of these cars is near me. I've heard it on:

Caravan
Sebring Convt
sebring
Cirrus
Eclipse
Mirage

It makes the cars sound very cheap!

First gear runs through a planetary gear system which dose make a whine when first taking off and slowing down and going back into first. That's no reflection on the condition or quality of the transmission It's just the design of the trans. The trans. works very well, but dose have a slight whine.

because a lot of the transmissions are built by the same company for both manufacturers, and as long as you can hear the whine the transmission is good in it,when it stops making the whine,is when it starts causing problem, there all like that though at least in the automatics, your right though it does make them sound cheap, good luck.
