I'm getting some head shots made for an upcoming audition, what kind of clothing and jewelry should I wear so as to not take away from the focus (me) but also not look like I'm just wearing the first thing I saw in the morning?
Thanks and God Bless!!

I'll make a deal with you, I will tell you the answer, if you tell me what your audition is. I only want to know because I want to protect all actors from the millions of scams out there. OK, here is my part of the bargin, you wear very little accessories, and clothing that shows you are a bright, sparkling individual.. Head shots are only head and shoulders. See examples at theactorsmarket.com .
And please email me your part of the bargain, thanks, doc

wear something simple that does not draw attention to itself. dark colors usually are best, and you want to make sure it's a fabric that is not shiny or sparkly at all, and also that has a nice clean drape to it (so there won't be wrinkles or shadows on the fabric). Accessorize simply-- maybe small post earrings or small hoops. You want them to see your face-- not remember your jewelry. Also, make sure that your makeup is even and classic-- not too trendy or overpowering. If they're not providing a make-up person, you might go to the make-up counter at a department store and ask them to help you chose (then tip the lady or buy something :)
Good luck. Relax. You want your headshot to look like you on your best, calmest day.

With all of TheatreDoc's experience, he can certainly help you. I will give you a page link to my site that I built based on a brief interview that I did with Peter Hurley, my headshot photographer from New York. It has more to do with how to choose a headshot photographer.
