Grasses and flowering plants only. Cypress grow in swamps but the rest die quickly.

Have no idea about Florida but for a fresh water pond I would use grassess, large & small and NZ Native flax, Phormium tenax & cookianum

Look around and plant what ya see... Can't grow much maybe lightning rod pines or a maple might grow...
