Sheffield is one of the very few players who drive me absolutely nuts when assessing his Hall candidacy. I know he's got an impressive set of numbers, but he's also got a handful of diminishing controversies packaged alongside, and no matter how closely I scrutinize him, nothing, NOTHING to my eye, stands up from his personal playing history and proclaims "Hall-worthy!"
He's not done yet, and that is very much in his favor.
But we have seen over 3/4 of his career. Aside from touching a few zero-laden numbers, he's not going to do very much more, nothing that will make him look significantly better.
So I still don't feel confident that a plaque is in his future. Could be.
Were I the Hall's minter, I'd put a Milwaukee cap on his plaque profile just to piss him off.

If he makes it, it won't be the Yankees, Braves, Tigers or Padres. He hasn't spent more than 3 years on either of those teams.
He actually hasn't spent more than 4 years with any team. He's been on too many teams, so he can't really define his career or accomplishments with a specific team. If he makes it into the hall, he will probably wear a blank cap.

Definitely. 500 Homeruns, a WS Championship, a .292 average, 251 stolen bases, a .394 OBP, and he's a Hall of Famer according to the Hall of Fame Monitor and Standard tests.

I'm going to go with the Tigers. Sheffield is really popular with the team, and Jim Leyland has always looked out for him. I think Sheffield will probably retire from baseball as a Detroit Tiger.

I dont think he will make the Hall. Not saying he doesnt deserve it, but he is not well liked by the media.
Case in point: Ted Simmons! Far more deserving than Fisk, Carter even Bench, but barely an honorable mention because he was an outspoken player rep and had run ins with the national media.

He might not make it due to steroids, but we can narrow it down to Dodgers, Braves and Tigers IMO. I would say the Braves unless he wins a ring with the Tigers.

Sheffield is an average player in this day and age, and mark my words...HE WILL NOT MAKE THE HOF...PERIOD!!! And I believe the players pick which team they go in under. Sheffield is not a team leader, not anyone I would want on my team...Ever wonder why he has been on sooo many different teams? Think about that one for awhile!

My hope is with The Tigers.
He's sign through 2010 as a Tiger, and he could get all those numbers needed wearing the old english "D".
