I would give my heart to my child, not because I love my mom less but because considering the ages, the child has the right to live and experience what my mom and I did.

Yet another dmb *** question. I would have to be dead in the first place. If it was my heart. So I wouldn't have the choice. In the unlikely event that both my mother and and my daughter had the need of a heart transplant from a fourth party at the same tome then I think both my mother and I would choose my daughter whether she liked it or not. A no brainer really.

My mum died a year before my child (my eldest) was born.... at 4 months she (my girl) had to have open heart surgery at Harefield (top surgeon Magdi Yacoub was the only one at that time that could do it). If she had it she could die if not she would. Hobsons choice?I said yes and now she has two little wonderful kids of her own (9 and 10 years). My mum would have expected me to let her go and save the baby, and (the fates perevent it) although I am not well and on oxygen and could have a heart attack at any time I feel, if one day the similar sort of decision had to be hers would be very angry if she put me first. that is what parenting is about.

If I had to choose then it would be my child. My mother would want that too. She's had a lot of life, but my child is only just started and got a lot more to give.

Leave it up to the doctors. They'd know who'd get the most benefit from the heart, and who'd live longer with it. Besides, regular people don't get to decide those things, do they?
A more interesting question would be, who would you donate a kidney to? In that case, I'd give one to my kid. I love my mom, but I know she'd want her grandchild to live, too.

Not lucky enough to have a child so Mum for me
If I did have a child though I agree with others who said Mum wouldn't take it knowing her grandchild needed it

My mum wouldn't take it knowing the child needed it as well, so I wouldn't have a choice.

I love my mother but if it came down to the two of them, I would choose my child and my mother would expect me to.
