I want to plan a fairly inexpensive getaway for my boyfriend of two yrs and I. We have entered into a mundane rut and I want to surprise him with a trip. We are located in the Florida panhandle area and would be willing to drive no more than 6 hours in any direction. My budget would be no more than $150/night on a room. Also, shows, entertainment, etc would be great too.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Kennedy Space Center is nice and Cocoa Beach is close. Rooms are pretty cheap too, much less than $150.. On the way home drive north on A1A all the way to St. Augustine.

OK, first link is to a boat in Sarasota, FL. She is 160/24hrs, so a little more than you planned on lodging. You have to join the Florida Sailing Club to rent. They provide a captain for no extra charge if you don't know how to sail. We did this on our honeymoon and learned to sail this way. It is a fun, alternative vacation. Your boat is your lodging and you learn to sail for your activities.

second link is a boat in GA. Same sailing club.

Now in Biloxi, MS, there is a Casino, The Palace Casino Resort. Prices are about 60 and up on the weekdays and 90 on weekends and up. (Availability)... The owner of the trucking company I work for owns this place and it is AWESOME! Lots of beachfront activities while you aren't at the casino.... Everything from jetskis to restaurants and more. But the Palace is pretty nice for the price.

I hope these are some ideas you like. I've only included the ones that I've personally done. Good luck.

I'm signsystems on yahoo messenger if you want some more ideas. I live in FL and have been all over the southeast.

This is the off season for hotels on the beach so prices are down, but they are lovely. Stay at a place in Treasure Island or Madeira Beach in Pinellas County.
Island Gulf Resort Island
13912 Gulf Blvd.
Madeira Beach, FL , 33708 , USA Phone: 727/398-6786 or the Sand Pebble Sand Pebble Resort
12300 Gulf Blvd.
Treasure Island, FL , 33706 , USA Phone: 727/360-1845

These are timeshares that also just rent out rooms for a low rate where you can get a one bedroom condo with a kitchen so you save on food costs and they are right on the beach. They do not try to sell you timeshares, either. We sometimes stay at these places as we live in Tampa and like the beach.
John's Pass which is a few blocks from the Sand Pebble has shops and restaurants and you can go out on boats.
You can go to Ybor City in nearby Tampa for clubs and there are shows in Tampa and St. Petersburg. There is also great shopping at International Mall in Tampa, go to Busch Gardens for rides and shows, the Lowry Park Zoo and there is an aquarium in Tampa and one in St. Pete.
