That slogan only proposes seperation of Americans from the rest of the world. It creates a feeling of superiority that encourages hate, and ignorance.

It should be changed to "God bless all humanity", for those of you who believe.

Did Jesus say that he would bless only one land?

Wally, what do Atheists and Jews have to do with this? I am an Atheist, and have no problem with freedom of Religion. It's a slogan of seperation, and you just proved me right.

I know my history, and it's founded on freedom of speech. Suggesting I leave my country, is you trying to bully me to keep quiet.

Lisa T (stop BLS): I never suggested anyone should stop blessing their loved ones when they sneeze.

Did you not read the details?

I find that Christians disagree only based on the fact that I am not one of you, requesting blessings on all humanity. I don't give a crap if you ask God to bless anyone. My point:

We should all consider that each individual is related, and created equal. I don't care who did the creating!

I agree. Lets try this slogan: Bird bless America. No that just does not sound right. I know, Hamster bless America. Nooo that does not ring a good tone either. My little brain is working here, I got it, we will change it completely around to something different like: "We Americans hate ignorance and are superior". That sounds good (better than Hamster Bless America) but I think it is a little to long for a slogan. I know, "We Americans hate Everyone and have swell Atheist". That's Perfect as it is to the point and has no hidden agendas. Do you not agree?

It isn't propaganda. It's simply a way a lot of Americans express how they love their country and their fellow citizens. Are we now supposed to fear what the rest of the world thinks about that? By no means does it mean that Americans don't care about other countries and their citizens. I'm sure many people from other countries feel the same way about their country. I wouldn't want them to have to change the way that they express themselves about it for me. Also, the word God to an American does not mean just Christians.

Stop and consider the words to the song:
God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

It was written by Irving Berlin, is intended as a peace song and is a part of American tradition.

It appears that the question has brought up how much people hate. And I notice that a curse word showed up in the details. Now isn't that lovely?

You're looking at that wrong. God bless America is just a short pray asking God to give the country the wisdom to act correctly.

Every day we're told that we live in the greatest country on earth. And it's always stated as an undeniable fact: Leos are born between July 23 and August 22, fitted queen-size sheets measure sixty by eighty inches, and America is the greatest country on earth. Having grown up with this in our ears, it's startling to realize that other countries have nationalistic slogans of their own, none of which are "We're number two!" - David Sedaris

1) god does not exist
2) if god did exist, he wouldn't bless one country over another, there are plenty of terrible people in the united states who would not receive god's blessing.
3) even those who would deserve god's blessing are not confined to america.
4) god is supposed to reward the good, punish the wicked, and doesn't do a good job of either.

I didn't know know it was propaganda that created a feeling of superiority that encourages hate, and ignorance. How about we change it to God bless Americans who get their underwear in wad over nothing?

I find nothing hateful about love. I love the US.

But you are also right: Humanity needs to appreciate God's blessings on all of us.

Until Americans themselves get out of the mindset that they are supposedly "morally superior" than the rest of the world (which is, of course, a farce), then this propaganda will continue.

The neocons and thier minions have turned it into the American version of "Zeig, Heil!"

Are our soldiers to be trained to shout "God bless America" before they slaughter innocent Iraqis or Afghanis, not unlike the Islamic terrorists that shout "Allahu Akbar" while performing the same degenerate actions?

I am willing to bet that your not upset with the word America, In the phrase, "God Bless America", Your upset with the word God. When I say God Bless America, I'm asking God to Bless America. I'm not saying that I don't want God to Bless any other country. God Loves all of us, America is just asking for his Blessing, and there is nothing wrong with that.

This is an old time slogan and it should remain the same. America is our Country. Canada says God bless Canada. So why can't we have our own to honor our Country ? This is not Propaganda and I resent you calling it that. You who use the name of Jesus. Shame on you. You need to stop asking questions that are not Loyal to America. It is weak minded people like you, who dog on everything America stands for. All humanity is all over the world. We are speaking mainly about America. God Bless America. Is that so hard for you to recognize ??? If your an Athiest , why would you quote what Jesus would do? Hypocrite to the core !!!
