september 20th.
A huge race issue has gone down in Louisiana. A group of black students asked if it was ok to sit by a tree which was part of white territory. the prinicpal said it was ok but the next day as a form of intimination, white students hung 3 nooses at the tree. nothing happened to them.
then when a black student got in a fight with a white student who had a gun, the black student faces over 10 years of jail time while nothing happened to the white student.
what happened to ammendments 13, 14, 15? why did we fight the civil war? i guess ignorant people will never understand.
anyways, black on thursday the 20th. just as a way to support the cause. you can look this up on msn. im sure you'll get a ton of articles.

i never said that everyone was agreeing with me. i am simply pointing out that nearly a century and a half after slavery was made illegal we still have this stuff going.

This was in my newspaper today......it's very interesting and distressing......I'm going to wear black on Thursday.
However unless I tell them why most people aren't going to notice.

I've read this from numerous news sources and none said the white student had a gun. The black students were convicted by a court for the assault. If the white student didn't do anything to initiate a confrontation; carrying a gun and/or being a racists does not qualify, than the black students took out their anger on a white in a racially charged attack.
Racism goes both ways, don't act like it is just a white thing.

I read the original story about the black STUDENT (ONE) asking if he could sit under that tree. He got into a fight with one of the white boys. Several boys got suspended, most of them white. There were no nooses mentioned in the news article I read. The principal was not aware that it was claimed by a particular group and he is doing something about it.
I didn't hear about the gun incident. When did it happen? Who started the fight?

Do you think is is just slightly possible that there is a whole lot more (or less) to this story than what the news media chose to tell? They cater to"ignorant people who will never understand". Do you want to be one of them? If not, start out here: first, assume that anything you heard, saw or read on the news needs to be researched a lot further before you get excited about it.

It's in Jena, LA, the questioner has some facts wrong although the overall problem of this being of a racial nature and different penalties applied based on race appear to be factual. Do a little reading, make up your own mind as it appears to me that the troublemakers both white and black aren't much to write home about.
*** Edit***
I still suggest you do your own research to insure you're getting as close to the straight story as possible. here's my bulletized recap as I understand it.
1. clique of white kids gather under a tree each day
2. One black kid asks school admin if its OK for him to sit under the tree. They tell him fine, go ahead.
3. he does, next day three nooses were hanging from tree
4. white kids responsible are caught, first they are expelled,
5. local school board over rules principal, kids given in-school suspension
6 strong reaction from black kids/families on lightness f punishment
7 incident at local in/out market. confrontation between white/black kids. white kid pulls gun. no charges filed.
8 local D.A. meets with all kids in assembly. warns them to cause no more trouble as he will come down hard on them if they do
9. six black kids beat down one white kid at school. he goes to ER, treated and released, attends school function same day
10 six black kids charged with attempted murder, their sneakers considered deadly weapon
11. one kid found guilty by all white jury, afterward its discovered he has extensive juvie record of 4 previous violent crimes. others not tried yet.
Again, that's my understanding, do some reading on your own as I may be wrong on some detail.
