Socialism is confused with Communism, that's why it's so "bad". The substantial differences between both is that communism calls for complete government ownership, whereas socialism most large institutions are government owned. There are many kinds of socialism like democratic socialism and socialist states with mixed economy. Well, it's also still bad because in the Cold War, anything socialist was deemed communist and people are fixated upon that mentality.

Socialism is bad, because the next logical progression is fascism when a socialist leader decides start acquiring the "king of the hill" mentality mentioned above.
Why does America think socialism is bad? because making oneself into a pseudo-monarch on the backs of the lower and middle class is near impossible, in a true socialist environment.
In reality, the best aspects of socialism, and the best aspects of capitalism mixed together is always the best route for a more stable society. But stability, is the enemy of pseudo-monarchs of wallstreet, because they would actually have to work harder to exploit the misfortune of others.
The single best thing a person can do to acquire wealth, is to realize that laws within a capitalism is written for and by the wealthy, and learn how to work those laws.
Also, people who do not know history very well automatically relate socialism with a hitler-esque style government.

i think you are talking about health care and why its not included in the social structure like fire department, police, nurses and doctors seem to be headed there, air trafficers, teachers and military, goverment offices including the capitol offices, it seems all but..........market competition , the money making game can not be because here there must loosers or there won't be winners .just like sports ......aggresive makes the country stronger they say.....then money is paid for faster and better........conservatives want efficent systems and no waste .......thus less wages ......because this brings less waste of resouces and gets things done for a very tight price .......Now if all people where considered as very important in the running of a demcracy type country which they are except for what a conservative would say is wastefull or non productive type folks.......the working ants lets say.....which are the backbone of a society but seen as unclean because of the occupation they are in ......and can't seem to leave and feel to tired and thus depressed and pushed down instead of pushed up .......and the use of managers trained to syke and maniplate them to get more out of them........just like prisoners interogated to get info......thus the fear game here to be used........fear used to get the hard work done , the heavy lifting so to speak .......because i say again to you the system of capitalism does not work so good with out this mindset as honored by the far right ........hard love.......give the masses to much they get slow and lasy so is said......its the sqeeze play........the religion of fear........we must all work harder to find a balance for all and not be selfish about it .....and also about responsible family size and not just to raise more humans just to be the winning power house.of humanity as well as other huge populated areas .......it starts to look like a huge race to the grave ........is this the human race plan......use the resouces before the other country does .....i go with less is more .....what a wimp ha......should i not be the imperial taker or they will take from me anything i have left.....or may it all change in the name of peace and find a new balance for all ......positives are every where if we let them into are heart.........later bye great world..............

Because it doesn't work... it saps the will to work and takes away freedom.... Roads have been one of the few roles of governments almost from the beginning of time.... regulation isn't socialism... it's just a hindrance to commerce... the ownership of airports and such does boarder on Socialism, as does the public school system.... But if I were you I wouldn't use either of them as examples as to why we should socialize everything else.... In fact they could easily be used to point out why it doesn't work.

I'll let other Conservatives answer your question. I'm going to play devil's advocate for a change (I'm bored with this question).
Let's say there's nothing wrong with socialism, other than the fact it would be against the US Constitution. This means either a new Constitution would have to be drafted, or else amendments would have to be adopted. Are you with me so far?
Okay, now you need a Constitutional Congress to re-draft the US Constitution so socialism is legal. OR you need Congress to adopt an amendment. Still with me?
Which party in these United States are you counting on for these changes?
Just be thankful for the socialism we have now, honey, because neither party's elite is going to give you pure socialism. I don't care what they promise you.
Any more questions?

Get rich quick schemes in the capitalist business world, (buyouts, IPOs, conglomerates, acquisitions, mergers, and the stock market), do not actually work. Remaining solvent does not actually exist within false economics capitalism.
Profit existing in the capitalist business world, or millionaires existing within capitalism, is pathological deception committed by the 21 organizations spying on the population with plain clothes agents, (with covert fake names and fake backgrounds).
Actual economics is the persons paying the monthly business loan payments of companies voting at work in order to control the property they are paying for.
Capitalism is the psychology of imaginary parents, false economics, and the criminal deception of employees that are paying the bills (including the stocks and bonds, or shares) of companies.
Anti-democracy republicanism is the psychology of imaginary parents and false government.

Personal choice doesn't guarantee you know where the USA is on a map. Collective responsiblity is effective socialism. The truth is Americans have been brainwashed by Ronald Reagan's notion taht government is the problem. When everything revolves around the MONEY we become unprincipled. The defense of the country is the governments responsiblity but not health insurance, what's up with that? I can go on and on.

Government main responsibility is for infastructure and protection even the most crazed libertarian will tell you that. If you look at Europe though socialism has really fallen flat on its face. Germany has more people unemployed than the US does, fewer people are going on to get a college education and poverty rates are still very similar to that of the US. Its medical system has become inefficent and medical care has suffered. At some point you have to have the government stop playing parent and let the people take care of themselves, because all you are doing at that point is crippling people and your soceity by giving them too much.

Because a complete socialist government doesn't reconize the rights of the individual. The FAA only operates ATC, the airports are run by local govenments for the benefit of privately owned airlines. your other examples are just as flawed.
