I'm just curious, about how handshakes all started. How did people start shaking hands, and how long ago did it start? Where did people start shaking hands, and what's the purpose of it?

One theory is that approaching someone with an open hand,
showed that you did not have a weapon, & were friendly.
Of course a few left-handed people spoiled that.
The Latin word for left-handed is 'sinister'.

I am not for sure but I think hand shakes originated early on in history as a gesture to show that neither one of you were hiding a weapon. I think you can find a better answer by surfing the Internet. Good Luck!

I honestly don't know,Andrew, but I wish they would stop for sanitation purposes. Just think of all those nasty little germs that are on people's hands. yeeeech. I think the japanese have a good idea. They just bow towards each other. That seems a lot more sanitary. And you can stay out of cough range if you want, too.

both the hand shake and the uplifted arm with the open palm forward are symbols of not being armed. actually the open palm may be more sanitary, and a hand shake can be an invitation to attack by the other person

Tjis is the earliest reference I can find, but it come from Wiki, and I think it was around long before then.

A handshake most likely began as a form of greeting in which one showed they were unarmed. If a person grasps your hand, it is evident that you have no weapon in your hand; it is a descendant of a salute as well as a simple greeting.

First thing I thought was Parkinson's but you are young so there is no way you would have that. I think that it may be out of nervousness and stress. Teens have crazy, hectic lives so it may be lack of sleep, too much coffee, or a lack of essential vitamins.
